The Bedtime Scientist

Bedtime begins with wonder.

Listen tonight

The show

Real science, told softly.

The Bedtime Scientist is a calm, factual science podcast for curious kids and the grown-ups beside them. One steady voice, real science, and nothing that startles: no music, no sound effects, no sudden anything.

Each episode is written in layers, so a four-year-old can feel it, an older child can learn from it, and the grown-up in the doorway can be quietly moved.

Where Mr. Rogers meets Carl Sagan, at bedtime.

More than 150,000 bedtime journeys, in 76 countries.

The book

Thunder and Lightning: The Sky's Electric Lullaby

The storm episode families ask for most, set gently on paper: billions of ice crystals dancing inside a cloud, the flash that feeds the earth, and a rhythm written to slow small breathing.

It joins a shelf of six published Bedtime Scientist books, from volcanoes to tides to dolphins. Each one is an episode you can hold.

The why

Made for two boys, shared with everyone.

I made the first episodes for my older son, who found bedtime hard. I wanted the last voice he heard at night to be calm, and honest, and full of wonder.

Somewhere along the way, I understood what I was really making. Even if no one else ever listened, my two boys would always have my voice, and the way I see the world. A public show, and a private gift, at the same time.

Thanks for wondering with me.
