The Bedtime Scientist

An idea

Sound and echoes

Ripples you can hear

Every sound you have ever heard was air, or water, gently pushed. The push travels outward in ripples, and something at the other end feels them: an eardrum, a bone, a whole body.

The clever part is what animals do with the ripples that come back. Send out a sound, listen for its echo, and the dark stops being empty. It becomes a map.
